Review – Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Spring 2020 has been a roller-coaster ride for the anime community. With the coronavirus pandemic forcing the entire industry to rethink their plans, a lot of the anticipated titles have been moved off either later this year or the next. This made the list of shows for Spring smaller and I am so glad that they didn’t shelf a show like Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.

RWBY: More mistakes made than any man | OWLS “Adapt” Blog Tour

It is wonderful to be back at writing for another OWLS blog tour. However, the circumstances between the last time I wrote for a blog tour and this one are extraordinarily different. Back then, I was taking about the grandiose idea of peace with the onset of the Inter-Korean summit and comparing it with Avatar: The Last Airbender. Now, we’re in a dark time with the global health crisis affecting our families and communities. This brings us to this month’s prompt put forward by the OWLS blog tour:

Classroom of the Elite induces depressing “battle royale-esque” story

The battle royale trope has been a staple in writing stories for anime. It usually starts with a clueless protagonist being forced into a game of carnage for survival. Along the way, he encounters friends and enemies which ultimately make his life harder in the survival game. Classroom of the Elite doesn’t do that – it’s probably the most mundane battle royale story I’ve seen and here’s why.

Why Kakushigoto will make your heart melt this season

As we push towards this complicated maze of life, there are standards in which we bestow upon ourselves in order to become the best for someone – whether that would be for ourselves, our families, or a special someone. Of course, there will always be hiccups to this struggle to build our “best selves” and it’s something that is portrayed in Kakushigoto with a lot of entertainment value. Taking something so relatable and making it super hilarious is what makes Kakushigoto shine as an anime series.

Review – Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

A lot of shows are ending at this point and I must say, we’ve been spoiled with some pretty good titles – one of which would be Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. The series is a rather different approach to the rom-com genre with the office setting and it has been a blast watching it.

Darling in the FRANXX is taking a nosedive and its not stopping

Throughout its current broadcast period, Darling in the FRANXX has received various criticisms – both good and bad. However, in its later episodes, it has sparked conversation and salt in the community on its romantic developments. Now, it went for a full-speed nosedive and it’s not showing any signs of stopping.

Comic Girls: this is oddly familiar

On, yet, another article of “cute girls doing cute stuff” comes an anime series that intends to show just that. Comic Girls caught my attention this late and it took a good number of memes, adorable GIFs and clips to get me convinced in watching it. But I might say, this kind of show is starting to get really common and I’m not mad in the slightest.

Balancing between charm and gains in animation

With the advancement of technology, we’ve seen more shows being released for every season. It’s quite amusing how before we complained about having less anime to watch compared to complaining now that there’s too much anime. But with the usage of tools that make shows easier to create, we’ve lost a certain aspect to anime that gave its charm a long time ago.

Review – Love Lab

Ever since I’ve found more free time, rom-com anime has completely swallowed me whole. I guess the idea of doing seasonal watching has gone rather boring for me and now, I am in search of some good fluff shows to make my heart sing out of joy. One of these shows is Love Lab – a romantic comedy show about girls trying to fall in love.

The fight for peace in Avatar – OWLS “Movement” Blog Tour

No matter whatever world we are presented with – be it the real or the fiction, there is always that one end goal put forward: peace. This concept varies on the individual and we all want a little bit of peace. Every person would go to any length they deem necessary to find “peace,” whatever it is. Because of this desire, we join groups, movements, filled with people who believe in the same things as we do. But it’s not all black and white as we would like to believe.
