With the advancement of technology, we’ve seen more shows being released for every season. It’s quite amusing how before we complained about having less anime to watch compared to complaining now that there’s too much anime. But with the usage of tools that make shows easier to create, we’ve lost a certain aspect to anime that gave its charm a long time ago.
With the release of a few short previews, an exclusive first episode premiere event to lucky selected individuals in Japan and in an anime convention, and an excessive amount of hype following that, Violet Evergarden had become the most anticipated anime series of 2018. Although, a good number of people were disappointed in the show, it has a significant place in my heart.
With its twelfth episode out, Violet Evergarden has come a long way from its slow introductory episodes. Initially, a good number of people thought that this was just mere eye-candy and nothing more, but damn, it’s such shame since the show portrays some outstanding character development and well-written writing techniques.
It feels like that I am going against the goals that I have set myself for this year as I keep ignoring every opportunity I get to make an episode reaction. To make up for it, here’s a dump of all episode reactions in compact form for the Violet Evergarden anime series.
As I write this article, I have come to realize that our group has come a really long way in comparison to the previous year. New members have come and are gracing us with their wonderful writings on various prompts. Although I haven’t really been a part of OWLS for a very long time, I feel very proud to be a part of this wonderful, growing group of creators.

ANIME, NEWS – On August 11th, Kyoto Animation‘s youtube channel uploaded another preview for their upcoming anime series, Violet Evergarden.
Unofficial translation by h4yze, r/anime:

At the end it says

In the video description, it details that the anime series will broadcast on January 2018 and there will be a “worldwide distribution.” Not much information in regards to what “worldwide distribution” implies but I assume it means they’re giving rights for certain companies to sell the anime.
A girl with no emotions. A girl who doesn’t know yet what love means.
ANIME, NEWS – Kyoto Animation’s Youtube channel, Kyoanichannel, uploaded a preview video of their upcoming anime series, Violet Evergarden. The preview, according to JList’s recent news article states that this anime series will air starting January 2018. As for the opening team, it will be done by TRUE (Dream Solister – Hibike! Euphonium opening theme).
Kyoto Animation is planning a premiere screening in Anime Expo 2017 on July 2nd this year.
NEWS – Kyoto Animation recently released a new promotional video for their upcoming anime series, “Violet Evergarden.” The video does not show new information but we do get to see more of the studio’s stunning work.
“I will run as fast as I can to wherever my customer desires. I am the Auto Memories Doll, Violet Evergarden.” – Violet Evergarden (at the end of the video)
There is still no exact date announced for Violet Evergarden so we will have to wait longer. Considering the animation quality of the promotional videos done by Kyoto Animation so far, it would not be too surprising that the series would still be in the works. After all, the level of quality has to remain consistent otherwise the whole series would be bad.
As far as the little information I have gathered regarding the anime series, here is a brief synopsis:
Auto Memories Doll.
It’s been quite a while since that name caused a fuss. Originally invented by Professor Orland solely for his beloved wife, Auto Memories Dolls eventually spread out into the world, and a machine that allows people to rent out the dolls was also created.
“I will run as fast as I can to wherever my customer desires. I am the Auto Memories Doll, Violet Evergarden.”
A girl who almost appears to have popped out of a fairy tale with her blonde hair and blue eyes said this with her inorganic beauty and sweet voice.
The promotional videos, so far, were worked by the following staff:
Director/Storyboard: Taichi Ishidate (Kyoukai no Kanata)
Character Design/Animation Director: Akiko Takase
Key Animators: Nami Iwasaki, Fumio Tada, Kohei Okamura, Shinpei Sawa, Nobuaki Maruki, Tatsuya Sato, Miku Kadowaki
In-Between Animation Check: Hiroko Kuroda
Color Design: Yūka Yoneda
Special Effects: Rina Miura
Background Art: Mikiko Watanabe
3D Art: Joji Unoguchi
Director of Digital Composite: Kōhei Funamoto
3D Computer Graphics: Tetsuro Umetsu
It is still unclear whether these people will be working the anime series itself.
