Expectation Mondays: Fall Anime Season of 2017

EXPECTATION MONDAYS – After being so busy for the past few months, there was little free time for me to dwell on the new titles for every anime season. There are still some shows in the previous season which I have not gone out and tried to finish out of pure laziness and time constraints. With the Fall Season starting up, I hope I can cover the shows that matter to me and you.

Here is a list of shows that I am hyped for the Fall Anime Season of 2017.

Finding meaning in something that is lost (OWLS Blog Tour)

As someone new to this, it is a great pleasure to be participating in the 8th OWLS Blog Tour. Last Monday, Zoe from Let’s Talk Anime talked about self-acceptance in the film, A Silent Voice. If you have not had the pleasure of reading it, I suggest you should give the article a few moments of your time. Thanks and I hope that this article will pique your interests.

“Treasure” Blog Tour

There are moments in our lives where we lose our sense of self-worth and value and as a result, we find ourselves deep in darkness or drowning in the ocean. However, every person in this world is a treasure—we treasure ourselves or we are treasured by others—and at times, we may need to be reminded of that.

For this month’s topic, we will be exploring pop culture characters who have suffered from mental illnesses, depression, and/or suicide. We will be discussing how these individuals cope with these issues, the reasons for their emotions, and how they handled the situations they are in.

Tsurezure Children: drowning in rom-com and characters

ANIME, FIRST LOOK – After being heavily recommended by friends, the anime series “Tsurezure Children” is now part of the short list of anime that I’ve watched out of the long list of anime which I haven’t. While it does give me some sort of entertainment and lives up to its genre of a romance-comedy, I can’t help but feel lacking from how it formats its episodes.

Violet Evergarden shows a new 40-second PV

ANIME, NEWS – On August 11th, Kyoto Animation‘s youtube channel uploaded another preview for their upcoming anime series, Violet Evergarden.

Unofficial translation by h4yze, r/anime:

0:00 I want to know… I want to know what love is
0:14 a girl with no emotions
0:22 a girl who doesnt know yet
0:28 what love means
At the end it says
broadcast begins January 2018 x worldwide distribution?????????

In the video description, it details that the anime series will broadcast on January 2018 and there will be a “worldwide distribution.” Not much information in regards to what “worldwide distribution” implies but I assume it means they’re giving rights for certain companies to sell the anime.

A girl with no emotions. A girl who doesn’t know yet what love means.

Hype. (internal screaming)

Shimoneta: what if the concept of dirty-jokes doesn’t exist?

ANIME, DISCUSSION – Throughout the times, settings for anime shows have been getting wilder and interesting as the years go by. Ranging from a deconstruction of the mahou shoujo genre to the concept of clothes being an alien weapon of mass destruction, anime series shines when it comes to putting something new on the table.

The anime series, Shimoneta, does this with its idea of “what if a world existed where the concept of dirty jokes is outlawed?

So, we ask the question: what if such were the case for us in the real world?

Top 5 Anticipated Shows of the Summer Season

ANIME, DISCUSSION – As the spring season comes to an end, a new one opens filled with interesting titles that may or may not become the best of this year. Personally, the spring season had a few letdown titles and I was left with only two shows completed and the others on hold (I will get on them eventually).

Without further ado, allow me to list down five shows which I’m itching to watch this summer season.

Guilty Crown: why it was a pain yet entertaining watch

ANIME, DISCUSSION – If you have been following the ramblings I have on Twitter, I am pretty much mixed when it comes to watching and talking about the anime series, Guilty Crown. It’s one of those shows wherein I just say it’s good and all, then say otherwise after a few episodes. All of my opinions about it are mixed and for good reason.

This will probably end up as a rant, so fair warning. Also I think this counts as a review (ish).

Review – Eromanga-sensei

ANIME, REVIEW – There are some shows that people would highly regard as the most morally wrong settings but get entertained by it. You can call these shows everyone’s “guilty pleasure” – they know that the show is complete garbage and yet can’t help but get entertained.

Ladies and gentlemen, one of those shows is Eromanga-sensei.
